The purpose of this programme is to enable permanent researchers affiliated with French public universities and research organisations (CNRS, Inserm, INRAE, Institut Pasteur, INRIA, etc.) to spend a few months at the University of Calgary to develop a research project, expand and structure partnerships. 

The visiting scholars will spend at least two months (and up to six months) full-time on the University of Calgary campus, or in a research center affiliated with the University of Calgary, and will benefit from official affiliation with the University of Calgary for the entire duration of their stay.

Please find below all the information needed to apply.

1- Research areas

The priority research areas are those defined during the first joint committee on science, technology, and innovation between France and Canada in 2023:

  • Emerging technologies: AI, quantum sciences, mathematics, societal impact, etc.
  • Health: global health, public health policy, genomics, molecular biology, mathematics etc.
  • Oceanic and polar sciences: oceanography, biodiversity, marine ecology, data science, etc.
  • Energy: renewable energies, net-zero transition, sustainability, etc.
