The Institut français du Canada
The Institut français du Canada develops artistic, educational, scientific, and academic projects to strengthen ties between France and Canada. As part of a vast global network, the Institut français du Canada promotes French culture and language through a rich and diverse program of events for all audiences.
In collaboration with its public and private partners, its activities cover all areas of the visual arts, audiovisual media, cinema, digital creation, debate, literature and the French language, music, and the performing arts. Promoting the French language and Francophone cultures are at the heart of its mission.
The Institut français du Canada supports artistic creation and intercultural collaboration by offering residencies in France and Canada to creators and intellectuals from both countries in order to encourage cross-cultural research and creation. By identifying and supporting the talents of tomorrow, it aims to respond to the major challenges of today.The Institut français du Canada designs and runs programs for specific and diverse audiences, including schoolchildren, students, teachers, researchers, and professionals in the arts, culture, and education.
An action across the country
The Institut français du Canada covers the entire Canadian territory outside Quebec, with four offices located in Ottawa, Moncton, Toronto, and Vancouver, serving nine provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Labrador) and three territories (Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut).
Our network
The Institut français du Canada is part of a vast global network, present in more than 140 countries and led by the Institut français in Paris, which oversees France's cultural activities abroad. This network has been promoting French culture and language and defending cultural diversity on every continent for over a century.
L’Institut français du Canada works in close collaboration with the French Embassy in Canada, the Consulate General of France in Moncton, the Consulate General of France in Toronto, and the Consulate General of France in Vancouver.
