This is the Privacy Policy for the French Embassy in Canada, acting through the Institut français du Canada, a financially autonomous institution without separate legal personality, attached to French Embassy in Canada and affiliated with the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (“IFC," "we," or "us") and functions as diplomatic representation. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the personal information of our website users ("you"), the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit www.institutfrancais.ca (our "Website"), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information, accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and French legislation. 

IFC will continue to review and update this Privacy Policy at any time to make sure that it is relevant and remains current with changing industry standards, technologies, and laws.

1.1       The IFC is responsible for personal information under its control and has designated the Director of the Institut français du Canada as the individual accountable for compliance with this Privacy Policy.

Other individuals within IFC may be delegated to act on behalf of the Privacy Officer or to take responsibility for the day-to-day collection and/or processing of personal information. 

1.3       The IFC is responsible for personal information in its possession or custody.

1.4       The IFC implements policies and practices to give effect to these principles, including:

            (a)       Implementing procedures to protect personal information;

            (b)       Establishing procedures to receive and respond to complaints and inquiries;

(c)        Training staff and communicating to staff information about the IFC’s policies and practices; and

10.05   IFC will investigate all complaints concerning compliance with this Privacy Policy. If a complaint is found to be justified, IFC will take appropriate measures to resolve the complaint including, if necessary, amending its privacy policies and procedures. An individual will be informed of the outcome of the investigation regarding his or her complaint.
