Our fields of activity

Visual Arts

We support visual arts creation in all its diversity (painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography, video, digital arts, design, etc.) and work to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration between Canadian and French artists and mutual understanding between these two artistic scenes. Our activities focus on organizing residencies, exhibitions, conferences, and professional delegations. In particular, we are developing a focus on digital creation and immersive realities, with an emphasis on contemporary creativity and technological innovation.

Cinema

In a world dominated by images, we believe it is essential to promote diversity in storytelling and expression. To this end, we strive to support the visibility of French films in Canadian theaters and on Canadian screens, and to create conditions that encourage encounters between Canadian and French professionals, thereby supporting high-quality, visible co-productions for audiences in both countries.

ICC

Recognizing the tremendous dynamism of the Canadian video game, digital arts, music and sound creation, visual effects, and animation sectors, we are working to bring these ecosystems closer to those of the French cultural and creative industries, paying particular attention to emerging talent. Drawing on highlights from the Canadian and French cultural calendars, such as festivals and professional events, we focus our efforts on establishing cross-residencies and organizing professional delegations.

Public debate

Because understanding others requires dialogue and the exchange of ideas, we promote exchanges between French and Canadian researchers, professors, artists, and civil society representatives who analyze and question our present. This ambition is part of an annual Canada-wide event, the Nuit des Idées, and a program of conferences, symposiums, and colloquiums throughout the year.

Books

We work to promote French literature to the Canadian public and bring together the Canadian and French literary scenes by organizing author tours. We also encourage cooperation between the French and Canadian publishing sectors by supporting the translation of French works by Canadian publishing houses and organizing professional delegations at major book fairs.

Performing arts

We support cross-cultural creation between France and Canada in all areas of the performing arts (dance, theater, music, performance, street arts and performances, circus, opera, etc.) by organizing residencies between our two countries and supporting the presence of key players in the ecosystem at major Canadian and French events. We also support tours by French artists in Canada to introduce contemporary French creation to Canadian audiences..
