France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program
The call for applications for the 2026–2027 academic year is now closed.
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme, developed by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, enables the best international students to study for master’s and doctoral degrees in France. It helps to train international students in priority fields of study.
Fields of study

- Environmental transition
- Mathematics and Digital Technology
- Engineering Sciences
- For humanities and social sciences:
- History, French Language and Civilisation
- Law and Political Science
- Economics and Management
Levels of study
French higher education institutions that nominate candidates for the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program undertake to enrol them:
- either on a Master’s programme;
- or on an engineering degree programme;
- or on a PhD programme under a joint supervision or co-supervision arrangement with a partner higher education institution abroad.
The duration of the grant
Master’s level
The scholarship is awarded for a period of:
- Up to 12 months for students enrolled in the second year of a Master’s programme (M2);
- Up to 24 months for students enrolled in the first year of a Master’s programme (M1);
- Up to 36 months for students preparing for an engineering degree.
Eiffel Excellence Scholarship holders receive a monthly allowance of €1,200 (from January 2026), in addition to direct coverage of various services: international travel, domestic travel, insurance, accommodation search, cultural activities, etc.
Doctoral level
The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program is awarded for a period of 12 to 36 months maximum in France, starting from 1 September of the year in which the scholarship is awarded, in accordance with the scholarship award letter.
Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program holders receive a monthly allowance of €2,100 (from January 2026), in addition to direct coverage of various services: international travel, domestic travel, insurance, accommodation search, cultural activities, etc.
Tuition fees
For both strands of the programme, tuition fees are not covered by the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program.
How do I apply?
First step
- Contact the Campus France office in your home country or the cooperation and cultural action services of the French Embassy, who will be able to guide and advise you on your study plans;
- Contact the International Relations department of a French higher education institution via its website, by email or by telephone to find out the application procedures and the deadline for submitting an application to their department.
Please note: it is the higher education institutions that submit candidates’ applications, not the candidates themselves. It is up to you to choose the school or university that best suits your study plans in France. All French higher education institutions are eligible to submit applications.
Second step
- The institution accepts and endorses your application for the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship
- The institution submits your application online via the dedicated Campus France website
Applications sent directly by students or forwarded by foreign institutions will be deemed ineligible.
